Interior Signage

Interior Signage is a key component in a new multi-tenant office or residential building, as well as in just about any public structure.

The eye-catching design is a primary consideration, as interior signage projects the image of the facility. But the function is critical, too.  Good interior signs immediately assist visitors in locating their desired destination, and they must provide valuable safety information about the facility as required by the local building code. Compliance is another key consideration when deciding upon your interior signage.

See our portfolio for examples of room identifiers, wayfinding maps, building policies, and business and residential names.

Materials Matter

The most commonly used materials are applique and photopolymer. Because of its manufacturing process, photopolymer signs are more durable and vandal resistant than appliqué signs. Applique signs, sometimes simply called engraved signs, are formed with layers of acrylic and laminates. Applique signs have some advantages over photopolymer signs, however – particularly when it comes to compliance, as Braille lettering can be engraved to provide the required rounded tops.

Customization

Because there are many differences in the two materials, there are different methods for customizing photopolymer and appliqué signage. Certain font styles, graphic layouts, sign frames, and methods for engraving logos work better on one material or another. Experienced signage professionals can help you select the best interior signs and get the best return on your investment.

Neon Nights‘ proven process ensures your finished sign is exactly what you need, as you envisioned it, and that it’s built to last.

Too Many Choices?

Whether you choose appliqué, photopolymer, or another material (laminate wall coverings, perhaps) there are also hundreds of colours (and colour combinations) to choose from. The good news: Colour is probably the only thing you’ll have to select entirely on your own. Your Neon Nights rep can help guide you through the many options and create the most attractive, durable, useful interior signage for your building.

Industry-Leading Know-How

Architects often get involved in deciding where to place particular interior signs. But they often leave unspecified important interior sign matters –  from designs to fabrication methods to locations – to Metro Sign and Awning’s experts.

Sometimes, an architect will specify material and a fabrication method that are would be unnecessarily time-consuming, costly or impractical. If necessary, we will review these specifications and come up with alternate ideas that will produce the specified final appearance for the finished interior designs while using less expensive materials, faster fabrication methods, and more practical installation procedures.

Other times, we’ll know how to revise a sign design so it looks the same, but will function better in the field by means of stronger adhesives, better resistance to colour fading, and more durable materials.

For example, we have the capability to fabricate interior signs using appliqué techniques (in which the letters are applied to the face of the sign). In many cases, this technology delivers better results than the more commonly used photopolymer method. However, we’ve also learned that in certain situations, such as schools, for example, photopolymer is often a better, longer-lasting choice.

When appropriate, we can also create interior signs by means of silk screening, even when the designs are quite intricate.
